| So the vast majority of our engagement announcements have been sent but there are a handful that didn't quite make it to the mailbox before New Year's and now things have gotten super busy again, so we may have to wait a few months to send those along. In the meantime, this is what we've been up to... Tammy: My CPA review classes started on January 3rd and I'm feeling pretty pumped about applying myself toward the passing of as many of the four sections as I can (before Fall). This is a much lighter semester for me, as I only have two "serious" accounting classes. I've even found some time to toy with a beginning Jazz dancing class, twice a week at the city college! My dream is to be an accountant, by day, and a dancer at night!! =P Around July or so, I should be getting confirmation about whether or not my job at the firm is indeed set to begin (offers are not the same as guarantees, apparently!) If so, then I may be relocating out toward LA, as I cannot tolerate long commutes... they drain the life out of me =/
Ever since the engagement, I've been mentally running the gamut in terms of imagining wedding possibilities. I started with a $5K budget, and then it went up to $7.5K budget... and now, I'm coming back down to a $5K budget. After flipping through all these magazines and viewing possible wedding sites online, I'm getting a little fed up with extravagance and I want to now aim for ingenuity. I'm presently working on contacting a local mall to see if they might entertain my crazy idea of holding the reception there! Allen: The spring semester has started for me at Cerritos College, and by far this is my busiest, with more than the usual "couple of courses" schedule I tend to have nowadays. This will also be my first full-on semester at a semester-system school, as the last couple of sessions at CC were short enough to basically be quarter-length, if not shorter (note to self: never take challenging courses during summer session). In an odd twist, it seems like my most difficult course is MA 161, Medical Terminology. It's online, but we had a flippin' 3-hour orientation on a Saturday, and were spoon-fed a huge dose of information not so much on the course itself, but how to turn stuff in, as well as what could get us kicked out of the program. MICR 200, or Microbiology, seems so much simpler in comparison, and I thought it was going to be my primary stress this semester. Also, I now remember why I financially took English as a major at CSULA: science/math books and materials are insanely expensive. If I had bought all new books this semester, I would easily have come close to $1,000 on those alone. I'm presently hovering at around $700 for books as it is, with a handful of used books taking the blunt off the new ones. Although it'll still be at least a year or so away, Tammy and I have been piecing more details together for our wedding. As of this moment, the wedding is to be outdoors (presently Schabarum Park tops the list as being most practical), most likely during the summer, and cost a total of $5,000 if we can help it. Ingenuity is Tammy's present theme and goal; to complement, I'm aiming for simplicity. Like her, I'd like things to be creative and special, but not so complicated that it'll be a burden to us before and/or after the event. So basically don't expect to see any doves or white tigers at our wedding :P
